Belonging to One People of God: Consecrated Vocations in Synodal Communion with the Church’s Hierarchy

Bài viết tháo gỡ những ngộ nhận tại Việt Nam về “dòng” và “triều”, khiến đời sống thánh hiến đôi khi bị xem như ngoại lai hoặc thứ yếu trong Giáo Hội địa phương. Trên nền tảng Giáo Hội như một Nhiệm Thể duy nhất nhưng đa dạng, tác giả cho thấy phẩm trật và đời tu là hai chiều kích thiết yếu, bổ túc nhau trong cùng một mầu nhiệm Giáo Hội. Dựa vào Christus Dominus (1965) và Mutuae Relationes (1978), bài viết nhấn mạnh sứ mạng chung loan báo Tin Mừng và kêu gọi sống hiệp hành bằng hiệp thông, sứ mạng, tham gia. Từ đó, tác giả đề xuất vài hướng mục vụ để tôn trọng đặc sủng, tăng đối thoại, và phối hợp dòng–triều trong bối cảnh Giáo Hội Việt Nam đang tiến trình hiệp hành. Bài viết nhấn mạnh trách nhiệm hỗ tương trong huấn luyện.

Abstract

This article addresses common misunderstandings in Vietnam about “religious” and “diocesan” vocations that can lead consecrated life to be treated as foreign or secondary within the local Church. On the theological basis of the Church as one yet diverse Body, it argues that hierarchy and consecrated life are two essential, complementary dimensions of the same ecclesial mystery. Drawing on Christus Dominus (1965) and Mutuae Relationes (1978), the paper highlights their shared mission of proclaiming the Gospel and calls both clergy and religious to live synodality through communion, mission, and participation. It also stresses mutual responsibility in formation. In this framework, religious superiors and diocesan bishops are invited to discern together beyond a “permission” logic, so that diverse apostolates serve the unity of the diocesan family as the Church in Vietnam advances on the synodal path.
