This article proposes a theological reading of the 2010 Post–People of God Congress Pastoral Letter, centered on the thesis that Christ is the Church’s very reason for existence and the norm that enlightens and corrects every dimension of the Vietnamese Church. Christ, as “the mirror,” enables the Church to recognize its identity and avoid distortions driven by self-interest. Accordingly, the Church truly lives as God’s People and the Temple of the Holy Spirit only by referring back to Christ—especially through listening to the Word in the liturgy and discerning the “spirits.” On the level of communion, the Son reveals Trinitarian communion and calls for an interior attitude of love as the basis for cooperation. Finally, evangelization flows from being sent as Christ was sent; the Gospel is first and foremost Christ himself and the Kingdom of God.
