Bài viết phân tích một ngộ nhận phổ biến về phân định thiêng liêng: nhiều người coi Ý Chúa như “một khả thể có sẵn” phải tìm đúng, giống bốc thăm trúng thưởng, nên sống trong áp lực và sợ chọn sai. Từ đó, tác giả truy về nền tảng thần học về Ý Chúa, phản biện kiểu nhân cách hoá Thiên Chúa và quan niệm “kịch bản định mệnh” vốn làm mất tính siêu việt của Thiên Chúa và tạo thế cạnh tranh với tự do con người. Bài viết trình bày tự do như một năng động chỉ hiện hữu khi được thực thi, và nhấn mạnh Thiên Chúa hoạt động trong thế giới không loại trừ nhưng nâng đỡ nguyên nhân tính của tự do. Vì vậy, phân định không chỉ là “chọn đúng” mà là cộng tác với Thiên Chúa để cùng Ngài hình thành vận mệnh, trong tương quan sống động với Chúa và ơn bình tâm theo tinh thần thánh I-nhã.

Abstract

This paper critiques a common misconception of spiritual discernment: many believers treat God’s will as a pre-set option that must be “found” correctly—like picking a winning lottery ticket—thereby creating anxiety and fear of choosing wrongly. The author traces this problem to a flawed theology that over-personalizes God and imagines a deterministic “script,” which diminishes divine transcendence and sets God in competition with human freedom. The essay rearticulates freedom as a dynamic reality that comes into being through concrete choices, and it argues that God acts in the world not by canceling human causality but by sustaining and enabling it. Consequently, discernment is not merely selecting the “right” alternative but cooperating with God so that one’s vocation and destiny are formed in the present through lived freedom. In the Ignatian spirit, authentic discernment presupposes a living relationship with God and the grace of inner freedom (indifference).
