Nghệ thuật vẫn luôn gắn liền với cái đẹp, nhưng cái đẹp hướng đến cái Mỹ và Chân lý chung của những Đại-tự-sự đã bị chôn vùi mặc cho những ai vẫn đang than khóc cho một quá khứ hùng tráng của nó. Giờ đây, nghệ thuật của Hậu hiện đại là sự rong chơi của nghệ sĩ trong vai trò kiến tạo và người thưởng thức trong vai trò tiếp nối các trường phái nghệ thuật. Art has always been bound up with beauty, but the beauty that aims at the Beautiful and the universal Truth of the Grand Narratives has been buried—however much some may still mourn its glorious past. Now, the art of the Postmodern is the free play of the artist in the role of creator and of the audience in the role of carrying forward the schools of art. The brief article below is, first, an attempt to examine the grand narrative and the path by which it legitimates itself, and then to present art as a counter-case, along with the way the little narrative legitimates itself through paralogy.
