Abstract

Dear readers,

This is the second issue of Magis, belonging to the Saint Joseph Jesuit Scholasticate, Viet Nam. Just as predicted before, Magis 2 comes out after almost a year from Magis 1, with the hope of meeting the expectations of readers regarding both the quantity and quality of the articles.

The novelty of Magis 2 lies in the presence of philosophical essays on anthropological, religious, and aesthetic issues. This is the first time that Magis publishes philosophical essays alongside theological ones. Although the number is still modest (3 essays), these philosophical essays add richness to Magis 2.

The remarkable feature of Magis 2 is the diversity of topics developed in the series of 12 articles. First are the series of Bible exegesis, covering fundamental themes such as God's intervention in salvation history, God's love, the role of prophets in society, and women who carry out God's will. Alongside these are topics in the field of social justice, the Covid pandemic, and the social doctrine of the Catholic Church. Finally, there are articles in the interdisciplinary field of philosophical-theological reflection: human, religious, transcendental, and aesthetic issues.

Moreover, it must be mentioned that the academic quality of the articles is the most encouraging and most significant aspect. Overall, these are research papers that have been highly evaluated by professors in terms of content and academic standards. Additionally, they have been meticulously proofread with the advice of trustworthy professors. Thus, Magis 2 comes closer to the ideal and goal set forth in the first issue: "to select and publish individual research papers that esteemed professors value and that have the potential to reach a level of serious academic research. [...] They may not be deep and thorough studies, but they are basic exercises in academic research, laying the groundwork for future inquiries and the profound expression of the truth of faith."

With all these aspects, the Editorial Board is pleased to introduce Magis Theological Journal 2 to all of you, with the hope that it will bring useful insights, meaningful sharing, and inspiration. We sincerely look forward to your support and encouragement so that Magis can continue to be published regularly with new issues, imbued with the spirit of "More" as befits the name Magis of the Journal.

Best regards,

On behalf of the Editorial Board

Fr. Nguyen Thai Hiep, S.J.
