The Relationship between Faith and Other Cultural–Religious Traditions in the Light of the Magisterium

Abstract

The article examines the interaction between Christianity and other cultural–religious traditions in light of the teaching of Vatican II and post-conciliar documents. The author emphasizes that God’s revelation always enters concrete cultural contexts, which are purified and fulfilled in Christ. Documents such as Lumen gentium, Ad gentes, and Nostra aetate affirm the presence of authentic values of truth, goodness, and beauty in other religions, while highlighting the Church’s mission to proclaim the Gospel as their fulfillment in Christ. The Church acknowledges and respects the moral and spiritual values of different traditions while remaining faithful to Christian identity through dialogue, inculturation, and evangelization. The article concludes that interreligious dialogue and the proclamation of the Gospel are not mutually exclusive but complementary, fostering fraternity and universal communion in Christ.
