Ngày nay, trí tuệ nhân tạo (AI) trở thành chủ đề quen thuộc và được nói đến trên mọi diễn đàn. Tuy nhiên, khi suy ngẫm sâu sắc hơn, chúng ta nhận ra những vấn đề cũng như cơ hội mà AI mang đến cho con người nói chung và đặc biệt là cho người Kitô hữu. Tại sao lại đặc biệt là người Kitô hữu?  Là những người theo Đức Kitô, chúng ta loan báo Tin Mừng bằng lời nói, đời sống chứng tá, dưới sự hướng dẫn của Thánh Thần. Trước thời đại AI, cách thức chúng ta sống và loan báo đức tin đã được định hình bởi những phương thức truyền thống như giáo lý, kinh nguyện, và các hoạt động cộng đồng. Tuy nhiên, trong thời đại này, AI đang tạo ra một bối cảnh mới, với nhiều công cụ mới, những phương thức tiếp cận mới đầy thách thức và hứa hẹn cho công việc loan báo Tin Mừng của chúng ta. Hơn nữa, sự phát triển không ngừng của công nghệ này đã khiến chúng ta, đặc biệt là những Kitô hữu, những sinh viên và các giáo sư thần học, phải đối mặt với những câu hỏi về vị trí thích đáng của AI trong từng lĩnh vực, đặc biệt trong những vấn đề thuộc phạm trù đức tin và luân lý.

Abstract

Today, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a familiar topic, widely discussed on every platform. However, upon deeper reflection, we recognize not only the opportunities but also the challenges that AI presents to humanity in general, and particularly to Christians. Why especially Christians? As followers of Christ, we proclaim the Gospel through words and the witness of our lives, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Until the age of AI, our way of living and sharing the faith was shaped by traditional means such as catechesis, prayer, and community activities. Yet in this era, AI is creating a new context, with new tools and approaches that bring both challenges and promises for our mission of evangelization. Moreover, the continuous development of this technology compels us—especially Christians, students, and professors of theology—to confront questions about the proper place of AI in every field, particularly in matters of faith and morality.

In response to these concerns, the Catholic Institute of Vietnam and the Catholic University of the West in France (Université Catholique de l’Ouest – UCO) co-organized the symposium AI: Opportunities and Challenges for Vietnamese Christians Today on March 1–2, 2024. The event featured presentations addressing fundamental questions such as: Do machines have souls? What are the ethical boundaries in our use of AI? How can we reconcile the power of algorithms with the sovereignty of a loving God? More broadly, what opportunities and challenges does AI bring to the Christian life today?
